About the Series

The Portraits Series explores the intersection of presence, memory, and technology through interactive kinetic artworks. Each piece captures a fleeting moment—a viewer’s image recorded in real time—then replays that moment in a continuous, evolving cycle.

Using BREAKFAST’s custom-engineered Flip-Disc medium, the artworks render each captured portrait with thousands of rotating discs that shift between matte black ink and reflective gold foil. The result is a living archive: a surface that remembers, reflects, and reanimates the people who have stood before it.

Over time, the piece becomes a shared memory space—where strangers, moments apart in time, become part of the same visual history. Movement, reflection, and memory converge in a medium that makes the ephemeral visible.

In a world saturated with fast, forgettable images, Portraits Series invites us to pause—and consider what it means to be seen, remembered, and reflected.
