Work for exterior spaces by BREAKFAST
Outdoor Kinetic Sculpture
An outdoor kinetic sculpture is a moving artwork built to live outside, in weather, all day and night.
BREAKFAST's first built outdoor work is Athens Gusts, in Greece. He has also designed a set of large outdoor sculptures that are ready to commission for plazas, towers, and landmarks.
Built: Athens Gusts
Athens Gusts is made of Rings, a medium BREAKFAST developed over two years to live outdoors and move 24 hours a day. The rings turn with real wind readings, so the piece shows the air moving over a place.
Designed and ready to commission
Zakreet Wind, Tower Wind, Sea Level Lighthouse, Globe, Vitals, and Drive are outdoor sculptures BREAKFAST has designed but not yet built. The images and video are renderings.
Each can be commissioned as shown or adapted to a site.
Commissioning an outdoor piece
Outdoor works are designed for the site: its weather, its sightlines, and how people pass through it. The process is the same as any commission, from conversation to design and engineering to fabrication and installation by BREAKFAST's team.
