BREAKFAST presents Site-Responsive Environmental Installations at 1 Hotel South Beach During Miami Art Week 2025

This Miami Art Week, 1 Hotel South Beach and Tala Beach present a series of site-responsive installations by Brooklyn-based kinetic and data artist BREAKFAST, curated by NicoleMarie Advisory. The presentation brings together seven monumental, kinetic works that translate live environmental data into kinetic movements, transforming abstract climate metrics into tangible, sensory experiences that unfold across the hotel's façade, lobby, and beachfront.

From December 2–8, 2025, Carbon Wake and Consumption will activate the hotel façade and Tala Beach, while Antarctic Ice, Water 80, and the Climate Shift Series will remain on view in the hotel lobby through January 5, 2026. Together, these installations make the invisible forces of climate change visible, transforming data into movement, light, and form that reveal the planet's shifting rhythms.

Following its celebrated debut at Art Dubai 2025, Carbon Wake takes centre stage at the entrance of 1 Hotel South Beach Miami — a 20-foot-wide, gold-mirrored kinetic sculpture visualising real-time carbon emissions from cities around the globe. Each motion ripple mirrors atmospheric change, creating a hypnotic choreography of reflection and rhythm that renders the world's energy consumption eerily beautiful.

Inside, works including Antarctic Ice, Water 80, and a new series by the artist called Climate Shift, will transform the hotel's interior into a dynamic, responsive environment. Crafted from marble, gold-tinted steel, and custom-engineered components, each sculpture captures a fragment of the planet's ecological pulse — from oceanic shifts and melting ice to the heat signatures of human presence.

On the beachfront, Consumption offers the most provocative encounter. Feeding from live datasets that track global production and waste, the sculpture responds in real time to human consumption patterns, its mechanical surfaces accelerating, contracting, and reshaping as collective demand rises and falls. The result is both captivating and unsettling: a luminous choreography of motion that exposes the beauty and volatility of excess.

"Miami is at the frontline of climate change — you can literally feel it in the air and see it in the water," says BREAKFAST, the Brooklyn-based artist. "My goal is to turn those invisible patterns — the tides, the heat, the emissions — into something people can see, feel, and connect with. It's not about screens or simulations, but about creating digital works that live and breathe in the real world, just like the city itself."

For 1 Hotel South Beach, the installation reinforces the brand's long-standing commitment to sustainability, environmental stewardship, and cultural engagement. By integrating BREAKFAST's site-responsive works into both the hotel lobby and beachfront, the property transforms its spaces into immersive platforms for reflection, dialogue, and learning. Guests and visitors are invited to move through the sculptures, witness the rhythms of water and ice, and confront the human impact on natural systems directly and tangibly.

"Hosting BREAKFAST's work allows our guests and the public to experience climate realities in an inviting and immersive way," says 1 Hotel South Beach's Regional Vice President of Operations Milton Sgarbi. "By blending art, technology, and ecological insight, we aim to deepen our community's understanding of sustainability through moments that are as thought-provoking as they are beautiful."

The result is an installation that blurs boundaries between sculpture, architecture, and environmental data — a living interface between human behaviour and planetary consequence.
